Botanical Name :  Azadirachta  indica

Common Name :  Neem

Family                : Meliaceae

Useful Parts       : All aerial parts like Stem, bark, leaves, , flowers, fruits and Seeds.

Important Chemicals:

·Azadirachtin, Meliantriol, Salamin are present in leaf.

·Oil consist saturated and unsaturated fatty acids. Main fatty acids are 50 % oleic acid and 20 % stearic acid and 2 % bitter sulfur containing substances like Nimbidin,Nimbin, Nimbinin and Nimbidol.

Uses:

·        Neem Cake is used as fertilizer and vermicide.

·        Neem wood used in furniture and as fire wood.

·        Neem oil is used as antiviral; in soap making and soap is used in skin diseases.

·        Oleic acid and stearic acid can be obtained from Neem oil.
